Rijks Live

Music event visual design in Amsterdam (Design proposal – not selected)

Working together with the RijksMuseum, Plugged Live Shows designs a mesmerizing show experience for 17.000 guests in the Ziggodome on Friday November 20, 2020.

How do you make art feel immersive again?

The Rijksmuseum is home to some of the world’s most iconic paintings and stories. But experiencing these works in a museum is often a quiet, static encounter—one that doesn’t fully capture the movement, emotion and atmosphere within the paintings themselves.

The challenge was to reinvent how audiences experience these masterpieces: to bring the paintings to life through music, performance, light, projection mapping, dance, colour and storytelling.

The experience needed to make the audience feel as if they were stepping inside the paintings, while still deepening their understanding of the stories and people behind them. By combining the visual language of the artworks with the energy of live performance, the goal was to transform familiar masterpieces into an immersive theatrical experience.

Huge art live

Art should be more than something we look at.

We bring the famous paintings of the Rijksmuseum to life through music, dance, light, color, and projection.

Each painting becomes a story.
Each song gives it a voice.
Each performance brings it into the real world.

Characters step out of the canvas. Colors fill the space. Light transforms the paintings around us.

The audience doesn’t just see the art.

They experience it.

We turn familiar masterpieces into a new kind of show—immersive, emotional, and alive.

The visual identity transforms Rijksmuseum paintings into a mesmerizing show experience.

  • Artists — Inspired by the masters and stories behind the Rijksmuseum collection.
  • Painting Material — Canvas, brushstrokes, pigment, and paint become key visual elements.
  • Mesmerizing Show — The identity feels theatrical, immersive, and full of movement.
  • Colors from Paint — Colors are taken directly from the paintings and brought into the graphic system.
  • Texture of Materials — Rough canvas, layered paint, brush marks, and fabric textures create depth.
  • Show Experience — The final design makes the audience feel as if they are stepping inside the paintings.

The concept: paintings leave the canvas and become a living show.

The project transforms the art of the Rijksmuseum into an immersive visual experience. Colors, textures, and painting materials become part of a theatrical and engaging graphic identity. The goal is to make the artworks feel more than just images, but worlds that come to life through sound, light, and performance.
